Australia’s time-hallowed darkwave trio unveil their most diverse and emotionally-charged record to date.

Chiron’s lineup comprises of a near century in collective dedication to dark, subversive and underground music. Their many individual arts projects have led them around the world, to opportunities as far reaching as Germany, Tokyo, Brazil and beyond. It is from their homeland Melbourne however, that three years of studio work has finally been unveiled in A Dark Beauty.

This new release is a shadow-drenched and introspective affair that explores the tensions between fragility and strength, despair and transcendence.

A Dark Beauty draws inspiration from gothic romanticism, urban isolation, the challenges of a modern world, and the allure of melancholy. Across its tracks, Chiron move fluidly between stark minimalism and dense crescendos, creating a listening experience that is both hypnotic and cathartic.

“This album is about finding beauty in the darker currents of human experience,” the band explain. “There’s a strange luminosity that can emerge from grief, longing, and uncertainty. We wanted to capture that contrast — something stark but radiant.”

A Dark Beauty sees Chiron refining their aesthetic while pushing into new emotional and sonic territory. Fans of classic darkwave, post-punk and alt-rock will find familiar shadows here, but the band’s modern production, incorporation of metal tones, and melodic sensibility ensure the album feels urgent and contemporary.
